Taking Notes

So my boyfriend recently got a promotion and I wanted to make him something to show how proud I was of him. Some of the other guys he works with have whats called a "note jotter" They're usually just little leather squares that can hold index cards to well.....jot notes on. To make your own:

Materials:
A piece of leather about 7"x10"
A legal size of thick card stock
A small skinny nail
Hammer
Embroidery Floss
Sewing Needle
( also used a pair of pliers to help me pull the need through the leather because it was tough)

I started by making a cardboard template with the dimensions of an average index card plus a quarter of an inch on each side then made marks a quarter of an inch apart around the area where the index card would go.

I then cut out two pieces of the leather the same size of the template I made. I then sandwiched the two pieces of leather under the template and carefully punched hole through to the bottom with the hammer and nail all while not trying to make my downstairs neighbors mad. Once this was done I could now start sewing through the holes.

Once three of the sides were done I put a piece of the card stock in it the same size of an index card to give some support. I also carefully cut slits in each of the corners only on the top layer! Finally, I finished sewing. I trimmed down all the edges to a quarter of an edge and now all it needs are index cards.

I hope he likes it! We'll find out soon enough!

Did you take notes?

DIY Nails

So I usually havea really hard time growing my nails long simply because if they don't break first they still bug the crap out of me but I'm trying to be good. That being said, I wanted to try out a reverse french manicure of sorts ie:

I wanted to use gold glitter on the bottom and keep it nude on top and finally I did it free hand with a simple horizontal stripe on the bottom . This is what happened...

Not the worst I've ever done...not the best ...but HEY thatswhy they made nail polish remover right? So literally right after I did my nails (like while they were still drying) I saw that you could use paper reinforcers to help make smooth lines when doing something like this. ie:

I know I want to try this soon and I hope you do too! Let me know how it worked for you and I'll do the same!

Let me know!
